SENSOR ACCESS CONTROLLER *Flash Firmware Update IC1000+JX and IC1000IP+JX* -------- OVERVIEW -------- This is a step-by-step guide on upgrading the flash firmware on your controller to the latest version, contained in this zip file. This addresses a number of issues which may, in certain access control configurations, cause the controller to send incorrect information to the Guardoint Pro software. Before upgrading, note that this update can ONLY be introduced via a direct link to the controller, either via a 232 cable or through a USB485 converter. You should NOT attempt to use TCP/IP. If you have any TCP/IP boards, power the system down and remove them BEFORE attempting the process. --------- 232 CABLE --------- If you are using a direct 232 cable, you will need to have the following wiring established: CONTROLLER Tx / Rx / 0v (J4) | | | 232 Cable | | | PC (COM port 1) If you do not have a 232 cable, you can make one from a standard 9-pin female plug and three pieces of wire. You will need pins 2, 3, and 5, and wire them to the following standard: PIN 2 = Received Data -> Tx/H on J4 PIN 3 = Transmitted Data -> Rx/L on J4 PIN 5 = Ground/Earth -> 0v on J4 ------ USB485 ------ If you are using a USB485 converter, plug it in then go to Device Manager on your PC. Open the Ports section of the list, and look for the Universal Serial bus entry. Windows will have given the converter a COM number. Please write this down since you will need it later. Make sure your wiring is as follows: X+ on the Converter -> Tx/H on J4 X- on the converter -> Rx/L on J4 -------- FLASHING -------- In order to upgrade the firmware, you must first install the upgrade utility that is included with this zip file. Install it now, following any on-screen prompts. Once done, please proceed with the steps below. 1) Run the install utility by going to Start -> Programs -> Flash 2000 -> Flash 2000. 2) Use the 'Browse' button to find the file TPLFLAE.HEX, which is included with this zip file. 3) All other settings should be as standard. If you are uncertain, your settings should look like those in the included image settings.gif. The only difference might be if you are using a USB485 device. Your COM port should read whatever number it was given in Device Manager. 4) Now click the Download (Parallel) button at the top right. The flash update will now be carried out. 5) When it has finished, you can close the program down with the 'Exit' button. If you want to check the update was successful, you can click the 'Flash Info' button. The 'File Checksum' should read '7680'. 6) The flash firmware of your controller has now been updated.
